St. Joseph Ministries / Organizations

 

Adoration Chapel ~ Contact: Deacon Bill Roche

The Adoration Chapel is available 24-Hours a day. During the renovation, the chapel is located in the Family Life Center (Formally Room B). If you are interested in taking an hour with Jesus, contact the church office. Pope John Paul II states, "The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship.  Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet Him  in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world. Let our adoration never cease." 


Adult Singles ~ Contact: Dotye Sue Stanford

The St. Joseph Adult Singles meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays in the Family Life Center Side Room.  Meetings begin with supper at 6:30 pm.  This ministry promotes spiritual (learning more about our Catholic faith), educational social and recreational activities for adult singles (separated, divorced, widowed or single).  This group volunteers where needed,  takes trips, has cookouts and just enjoys "good old-fashion" fellowship and "get-togethers"!


Altar Servers ~ Contact: Kevin Nolten

Altar Servers are a crucial part of the Mass. Altar Server assist the priest and deacon at Mass in various ways. If you or your child in currently enrolled in the 5th grade or older and is interested in serving at the Altar, please contact Kevin Nolten.


Altar Society ~ Contact: Ruth Payne

The Altar Society ensures that our church is prepared for the Weekend Masses. Task include preparing/cleaning the linens, altar cloths, flower preparation, and much more. Volunteers are always welcome.


Children's Liturgy ~ Contact: Nia Mitchell

The Children's Liturgy gathers during the 9:30 am Mass. This liturgy offers the children the opportunity to come together and share the Sunday readings on "their terms" All children are invited to attend the 9:30 am Mass and dismiss with the Children's Liturgy.


Choir ~ Contact: Michael Kenney

If you are interested in becoming a member of any choir, contact Michael Kenney. New members are always welcome.


Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion ~ Contact: Andrea Madden.

EMHC's are appointed by the Bishop to distribute Holy Communion at Mass or to those unable to attend Mass.  Any registered Catholic (confirmed & over 18) able to receive Holy Communion is invited to become an EMHC. 


Family Life Ministries ~ Contact: Dotye Sue Stanford

The Family Life Ministry develops a since of community within the parish.


Hospitality ~ Contact: Connie Sims

The Hospitality Committee welcomes new parishioners into the parish. Calling upon new families and becoming a "sponsor family". The hospitality committee also volunteers at parish receptions in helping with food distribution and preparation.

Lectors ~ Contact: Michael Kenney

Lectors are assigned to the two Sunday readings at Mass. If you are interested in becoming a lector, please contact Michael Kenney.


Married Couples Group ~ Contact: Alan Richards

The Married Couples Group provides a group in which married couples (and interested single adults) could meet together outside of mass, discuss issues of importance to married couples and bring in outside speakers and speakers from within the group to present stimulating material to help all of us in our growth as Catholic Christians.


Men's Fellowship ~ Contact: Deacon Bill Roche

All men of the parish are invited to attend lunch on the first Wednesday of the month at 12:00 Noon. During lunch, a speaker will discuss pertinent issues surrounding our faith today.


Ministers of Care ~ Contact: Jennifer Barron

"Ministers of Care" is a ministry that gives homebound parishioners to receive communion throughout week. Volunteers are always welcome.


Mother's Day Out ~ Contact: Cheryl Raney

To provide a safe, Christian, quality environment in which young children learn to grow in social, language, and spiritual development while having fun. Registration is held each Febuary for the following school year.


Nursery (FLC) ~ Contact: Susan Prest

The FLC Nursery is available from during the 9:30 & 12:00 Noon Masses on Sunday. The nursery is open to 4 month to 4 year old. The nursery staff is paid and has been approved through the Diocesan "Protecting God's Children" program.


Outreach ~ Contact: Jane Snyder

The Outreach Program offers an "outreached hand" to the community surrounding St. Joseph Church. Current programs include, The Catholic Carpenters, Meals on Wheels, and New Orleans Mission Trips. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Jane Snyder.

Pro-Life (VITA) ~ Contact: Janice Gonzalez

VITA is a Pro-Life ministry that defends life at all stages. Programs include Rachel's Vineyard, and monthly prayers at the Abortion Clinic. To become a part of this ministry, please contact Janice Gonzalez at the church office.


Religious Education ~ Contact: Deacon Bill Roche


RCIA ~ Contact: Deacon Bill Roche & Carol Gates

RCIA sessions are held Tuesday Evening's beginning at 6:45 pm until 8:00 pm in the Family Life Center Main Hall. Encourage husbands, wives, or friends that may have been thinking about the Catholic Church to come to the information session and to start the Inquirer sessions in August. If you don’t invite them, who will?

The Catholic Church is always ready to welcome those who wish to become part of our faith community.  We of St Joseph Church make a special effort to reach out to anyone interested in exploring the possibility of becoming Catholic.  There is never any pressure or obligation to actually become Catholic.
