About Saint Padre Pio and the Tour of His Relics
Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, one of the greatest saints that has ever lived, was a true miracle worker, who throughout his life brought healing and hope to millions of people.
In February 2016, during the Holy Year of Mercy, the body of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina was exhibited in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome in accordance with Pope Francis' wishes. Following the pontiff’s example and in honor of the 130th anniversary of Padre Pio’s birth and the 15th anniversary of his canonization, the Saint Pio Foundation organized the first official tour of the relics of Saint Pio in 2017.
Each year since then, the Saint Pio Foundation has continued to sponsor a pilgrimage of his relics with the goals of bringing people closer to God and offering the faithful, who cannot travel to San Giovanni Rotondo or Pietrelcina where Saint Pio lived and died, an opportunity to have a spiritual encounter with him, to pray to him, and to seek his blessings. Sensing his presence today more than ever, there are countless stories of people who have been healed or who have received a miracle as they request his intercession.
