Parish School of Religion

Classes began Sunday, September 10, 2023

To serve the catechetical needs of our parish families, St. Joseph Catholic Church provides faith formation for the entire family through our Parish School of Religion (PSR) program. Whole-family faith formation allows families to learn the Faith together building family traditions around the liturgical year and growing in community with other parish families.

Our PSR Family Faith Formation program starts at K4 and continues through high school with sacramental prep for First Communion typically in 2nd grade and a 2-year Confirmation program beginning in 7th Grade.

How Does PSR Family Faith Formation Work?

  • Families meet twice a month on Sunday mornings after the 9:30 AM Mass. Classes typically run from 10:45-12:15. Classes begin September 10, 2023. See PSR schedule.

  • Children are dropped off in their classrooms with their peers and teachers. Class assignments are primarily based on grade level. Parents will sign their child out at pick up time.

  • While children are meeting in their classrooms, adult parishioners will meet in the Family Life Center in the main hall. We ask that all parents with children in PSR attend the adult formation class.

New To Our Program in 2023-2024

New Classes

We are excited to announce our PSR now has something for everyone! We have added a Pre-K class to better serve each family, as well as a class for our high schoolers who are confirmed in the Faith.

Revised Adult Formation

This year our adult formation class will be open to ALL adult parishioners who desire to deepen their knowledge of the Catholic faith. The class will focus on a parish-wide lesson for the month that coordinates with what the children are learning in their classrooms as well. The topics presented in the adult formation class will convey the Catholic Church's richness, lead us to apply our faith, and give answers to controversial questions for today's Catholic.

New Text

We will be using materials from the St. Augustine Institute. All classes will use this curriculum with the exception of our 7th and 8th graders, who will continue to use The Chosen series as they prepare for Confirmation.

2023-2024 PSR Registration

We are no longer registering for the 2023-2024 school year. Classes began Sunday, September 10, 2023. Please reach out to Marijo Jones for special circumstances - mjones@stjosephchurch.net.
