Parish School of Religion
To serve the catechetical needs of our parish families, St. Joseph Catholic Church provides faith formation for the entire family through our Parish School of Religion (PSR) program. Whole-family faith formation allows families to learn the Faith together building family traditions around the liturgical year and growing in community with other parish families.
Our PSR Family Faith Formation program starts at K4 and continues through 8th grade with sacramental prep for First Communion typically in 2nd grade and a 2-year Confirmation program beginning in 7th Grade.

How Does PSR Family Faith Formation Work?

Families will attend in-person classes on Sundays (September through April) after the 9:30 AM Mass. Classes typically run from 10: 45 AM -12:00 PM. Please refer to the PSR calendar below.

Children are dropped off in their classrooms with their peers and teachers. Class assignments are primarily based on grade level. Parents will sign their child out at pick up time.

While children are meeting in their classrooms, adult parishioners will meet in the Family Life Center in the main hall. IF YOUR CHILD IS ATTENDING PSR CLASS AT LEAST ONE PARENT/GUARDIAN NEEDS TO ATTEND ADULT FORMATION IN THE MAIN HALL OF THE FAMILY LIFE CENTER.

Adult Formation will offer three classes to select from to help grow your Catholic faith - a book study, marriage couple classes, and our parish Donuts and Discussions. Everyone will meet in the main hall of the Family Life Center for fellowship, then break into the small group of choice at 11:00 AM.

Preparation for the sacraments will be held at the same time as PSR classes (after the 9:30 AM Mass 10:45 AM - 12:15 PM)

New Attendance Policy will be distributed.

2026-2027 PSR Registration
Registration for the 2026-27 school year is open. Classes begin Sunday, September 13, 2026. If you need assistance, contact our Director of Youth Ministries Marijo Jones - mjones@stjosephchurch.net.

Must be a registered parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church

Touching Safety Program - required by the Diocese of Shreveport. All children must view the Touching Safety video. This video will be shown at the first class. If you do not want your child to be trained in Touching Safety you must sign an opt-out form available upon request.

There is a $50.00 registration fee for each family. This includes up to (3) student activity books and materials for adult formation class. Extra student books are available for $12.00 each.

Registration fee and fee for additional books can be paid through our parish online giving system HERE. (please choose PSR from the Fund drop down menu)

PLEASE NOTE: If you have a child preparing for sacramental preparation classes (First Communion or Confirmation), this is a seperate registration and fee schedule. Please be sure to complete the correct Sacramental Prep Registration form below.

First Holy Communion Preparation - $55.00 (retreat included)

Year 1 Confirmation Preparation (7th grade) - $55.00

VOLUNTEER
